Great news! Back in January we raised $21,975 to deliver medical supplies and automatic electronic defibrillators (AEDs) to frontline ambulances in Ukraine. It has taken several months, but finally we can report the delivery from Poland to Ukraine of 11 BeneHeart C1A AEDs and a BeneHeart D30 AED. These AEDs have been installed in frontline ambulances operated by the rescue service of the Red Cross of Ukraine.
We would like to again thank our many donors, and especially our Platinum Sponsors Wegmans and aTonalHits, our Silver Sponsors The Rochester Academy of Medicine, and our Bronze Sponsors Allison L. Giordano, MD and The Ukrainian Federal Credit Union for their incredible support in making this important delivery possible.
Today we began the process of transferring 14,000 euros (about $13,600) to our contacts in France to purchase a used ambulance for the Kharkiv Children’s Regional Hospital No. 1. This ambulance is gorgeous. It is a 2015 vehicle, and comes equipped with oxygen kit and suction, as well as side door ramps for wheelchairs. This is a different vehicle than we originally had our eye on, but we like it even more.
We’ve received more video from our colleagues at the Kharkiv City Clinical Children’s Hospital No. 16 about the $10,000 shipment of equipment and medicines they’ve received, donated by Rochester’s own Wegmans. Check out the video below from our YouTube channel, where you can see some of the equipment that was provided: a bactericidal sterilizer system, an EKG machine, a cooler bag for transporting blood products, and a urinalysis machine. All being put to good use in Kharkiv! We would like to emphasize how important this equipment is – durable items for hospitals can be used again and again, and help diagnose and treat many people.

We have great news! Back in June, Wegmans the famous supermarket chain headquartered here in Rochester, NY, donated $10,000 toward our mission to provide medicines and supplies to Ukrainian hospitals.
This week, we delivered! Working with our partners at the Future For Ukraine Foundation, we purchased supplies and medications requested by the Kharkiv City Clinical Children’s Hospital No. 16 – and this week the supplies arrived!. Wegmans is a real fixture of home for us here in Rochester – and to see their logo on the boxes in the photo above warms the heart.
SAVE THE DATE! OCTOBER 5, 2022.
We couldn’t do what we do without our donors and the amazing community support we are receiving. Every fundraising event brings us one step farther on our mission to deliver medicines and supplies to Ukrainian hospitals. We have so far completed 17 projects (shipments of medicines and medical supplies from the US or transfers of funds to purchase medicines and/or medical supplies in Poland and Ukraine), and have reached hospitals in multiple towns and cities in Ukraine. Our donors allow us to respond when hospitals in the war zone reach out with needs.
On September 22, 2022 the Ukraine Medical Relief Fund spent the evening at Polska Chata, simply the best Polish restaurant and deli in Rochester, NY. The evening was so successful, the crowd so welcoming, (and the food so good!) that we came back again during their Friday Fish Fry on September 23. Polska Chata generously donated all proceeds from the desserts sold on those evenings!
Please enjoy this short video about the fundraiser on our YouTube channel:
Ukrainians aren’t only allergic to Russian occupation. There may also exist environmental allergies and asthma, and these can be dangerous for your health too.
When Dr. Olga Grygorieva visited us, she traveled back to Kharkiv with a shipment of allergy and asthma medications, examples of which we had shipped previously and were so effective her patients requested more.
This past week the medications were distributed to the families and patients cared for at the Children’s Polyclinic No.1 in Kharkiv.
