An Ambulance for Kharkiv, Today More Than Ever

Today we began the process of transferring 14,000 euros (about $13,600) to our contacts in France to purchase a used ambulance for the Kharkiv Children’s Regional Hospital No. 1. This ambulance is gorgeous. It is a 2015 vehicle, and comes equipped with oxygen kit and suction, as well as side door ramps for wheelchairs. This is a different vehicle than we originally had our eye on, but we like it even more.

We are so touched by the generosity of our donors who made the purchase of this ambulance possible.

An ambulance for Kharkiv. An ambulance for Kharkiv. An ambulance for Kharkiv.

Once the money is transferred, and the financials are taken care of, our contacts in France will fill the ambulance with locally donated medical supplies, and then our contacts in Kharkiv will transport the ambulance overland to Ukraine.

We should note that through this process, life has been dangerous for our contacts in Kharkiv. Their city is under frequent bombardment by russia. Several times over the past two weeks as we worked through details about acquiring this ambulance for the hospital, our contacts in Kharkiv could not be in touch because electricity in the city was knocked out. And today, russia rained down dozens of missiles on cities all over Ukraine, hitting things like a playground and a tourist walkway in Kyiv. Zaporizhzhia was hit for the third day in a row, with dozens of civilians killed there. Russia openly behaves like a terrorist organization, unbridled by conscience, its civil society mute or fleeing the country – and the entire world must soon come to terms with this.

But today, our donors have seen fit to respond by purchasing an ambulance for a children’s hospital in Kharkiv. We are so grateful for our donors. Your voices, your consciences, speak loud and clear.

We are still accepting donations.

We are collecting monetary donations to support the purchase of medical supplies and medications now for Ukrainian hospitals. Go to our fundraising page to contribute.

We are a non-profit organized under the Rochester Regional Health Foundations.
