January Fundraiser Frontline Ambulance Material Delivered

Great news! Back in January we raised $21,975 to deliver medical supplies and automatic electronic defibrillators (AEDs) to frontline ambulances in Ukraine. It has taken several months, but finally we can report the delivery from Poland to Ukraine of 11 BeneHeart C1A AEDs and a BeneHeart D30 AED. These AEDs have been installed in frontline ambulances operated by the rescue service of the Red Cross of Ukraine.

Midsummer Medical Aid Shipment for Ukraine

This weekend's shipment of anti-allergy meds.

This weekend’s shipment was modest, but important! Back in April/May we sent prescription anti-allergy medications to the 1st Children’s Polyclinic in Kharkiv, Ukraine – and those drugs were so effective our colleagues there requested more. Once again, the medications were generously donated by Dr. Manisha Relan, pediatric allergist in Albany, NY.

Not Normal, Not Acceptable

We are now approaching 130 days since Russia launched its full scale war to try to wipe Ukraine off the map. But after 130 days, Ukraine still stands. The losses have been terrible, but Ukraine still stands. We are now in a time where the rest of the world might start looking the other way, or be lulled into thinking this is a new normal, that “wars happen” and indiscriminate rocket and artillery attacks on civilian homes, apartment blocks, hospitals, and shopping malls is somehow acceptable. It’s not. These are war crimes, and Russia thinks that the rest of the world isn’t serious, won’t really care enough, and will soon get bored and tired with this war, and that we will learn to accept it. That terrorism is somehow “normal.”

Ukrainian-American Cultural Association of Oregon Medical Aid Shipment for Ukraine

The next shipment heading out!

This week the Ukraine Medical Relief Fund’s efforts reached across the U.S. The world has shown that when it comes to helping Ukraine win this war, the best efforts are cooperative efforts, and that’s what we are doing here. This week we shipped (72 lbs / 32.5 kg) in prescription antibiotics, antifungals, anti-nausea medications, as well as over-the-counter medicines, medical protective equipment, and other hospital supplies. Some of the hospital supplies were donated by members of Child Neurology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, as well as other donors in the Rochester NY area. This shipment was put together in cooperation with our friends at RocMaidan. And new friends at the Ukrainian-American Cultural Association of OR & SW WA, a group that has amazing shipping logistics into Ukraine, is covering the cost of shipping.
