Medical Aid Shipment for the Liberated Kharkiv Region Arrives

Not everything always goes according to plan. Back in October 2022 we sent three boxes of medical supplies to France with the intention that they would arrive in time to be placed in the ambulance we purchased and delivered to the Kharkiv Children’s Regional Hospital. The boxes contained $1900 worth of wound care supplies, personal hygiene items, as well as flashlights. Part of the shipment was intended for the hospital in Balakliya, in the Kharkiv region liberated from the invaders last September.

Well, those three boxes sat for a couple of unexpected weeks in French customs, and by the time they were released our ambulance was already on its way to Kharkiv.

These boxes took their time across Europe. These boxes took their time across Europe.

These boxes got to know France really well. But not exactly the scenic route.

Then those three boxes were stuck in France for a time, not fulfilling their purpose, until an amazing volunteer in Luxembourg went to get them and made sure they arrived via post to Ukraine. All three boxes finally arrived at their destinations this week.

Better late than never.

Delivered to Balakliya. Delivered to Balakliya.

Supplies arrived at the hospital in Balakliya.

The residents of Balakliya suffered horrors during more than six months of occupation by soldiers from the terrorist state. People were tortured. The town was left without electricity, most of the infrastructure destroyed. We reflect soberly that despite the months of delay of our supplies, the contents are still very much needed to help Balakliya’s hospital get back on its feet.

Delivered to Kharkiv. Delivered to Kharkiv. Delivered to Kharkiv.

Supplies arrived at the Kharkiv Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital.

The Kharkiv Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital is now the primary trauma care site for pediatric patients in the Kharkiv oblast. The wound care supplies we sent are still much needed.

We will be sending more. As always, thank you to our donors for making this work possible.

We are still accepting donations.

We are collecting monetary donations to support the purchase of supplies and medications now for Ukrainian hospitals. Go to our fundraising page to contribute.

We are a non-profit organized under the Rochester Regional Health Foundations.
