Winter Aid Shipment for Ukraine

Winter has arrived to Ukraine. For many places in the country, there are outages of heat and electricity due to the malicious attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by its terrorist neighbor. These attacks are intended to bring maximum suffering to Ukraine’s civilian population, and we all dream of the day the perpetrators are in the dock at the Hague on trial for their crimes. But in the meantime Ukrainians are resilient. And they have many friends who will help them through these dark days.

Our furriest volunteers.

Our furriest volunteers wanted to make sure they got to help pack up this week’s shipment, which included infant formula, medical supplies and 30 warm blankets.

This weekend we sent a shipment of thirty warm blankets, as well as medical supplies and infant formula to our contact in Lviv. The items will then be distributed further on to a hospital in Kherson or Donbass. In the words of our contact:

Thank you! Blankets are great and needed…and we will definitely get them to Kherson or one of the hospitals in Donbass where they are left with no heat. We started adding blankets to “evacuation bags” with clothes for soldiers that includes underwear, socks, T-shirts, sport pants…so when wounded are admitted to the hospitals they have a change [of clothes] at once.

The thirty blankets were donated by local volunteer Debbie S. This is such a kind and generous act, and will literally provide warmth for many people in need. The medical supplies were donated by healthcare workers at Golisano Children’s Hospital, who just never stop giving. The infant formula was donated by a medicine-pediatrics resident physican at the University of Rochester Medical Center. All together the shipment weighed 93.5 lbs / 42.5 kg. We would like to thank all of our donors who never forget about Ukraine and hold its people close to their hearts this holiday season.
