Ukrainian American Cultural Association of Oregon Shipment Arrives in Kharkiv

This war has impacted nearly every Ukrainian family. Is there a part of the country that feels safe? Events of the past week especially have shown us how fragile life can be.
Kharkiv remains very much on the front lines, with missiles and rockets hitting civilians at random. Throughout this war we have been sending supplies to the 1st Children’s Polyclinic in Kharkiv. A few weeks ago, the staff reached out with a wishlist of medical supplies and equipment that they needed, and we responded immediately, and with the help of the Ukrainian American Cultural Association of Oregon and SW Washington, sent them what they requested. Those supplies arrived last week.
And as usual, the aid we sent went directly into the hands of patients.

But let’s talk about one more thing: On their list of requested equipment were pediatric ambu bags. These are not really well known items unless you happen to be a doctor or a nurse. Ambu bags are used during times of respiratory failure to breathe for a patient, who may be suffering critical illness or trauma.

This again is a pediatric ambu bag.
Let’s think about that request for a moment. All the children of Kharkiv should be receiving are toys and games, stuffed animals and playdate invitations. Instead, we are sending ambu bags. And the news from Ukraine, especially this past week, of children who have been lost, demonstrates why ambu bags are needed.
We ask again: What will be the response of world leaders to Russian terror?
We make videos where we can from the clips our aid recipients send to us, to show our donors where their donations are going, and to rally morale. Please watch and share the video about this shipment on our YouTube channel:
We are still accepting donations.
We are collecting monetary donations to support the purchase of medical supplies and non-controlled substance medications now for Ukrainian hospitals. Go to our fundraising page to contribute.
We are a non-profit organized under the Rochester Regional Health Foundations.
