New Partnership With Future for Ukraine Foundation

FFU Foundation website.

Last week we were pleased to be visited here in Rochester, NY, by Dr. Olena Nikolaienko, from the Future For Ukraine Foundation, a nongovernmental organization with offices in Poland and Ukraine. The FFU Foundation was created in 2022 with the goal of providing medical and humanitarian support to the people of Ukraine, and this goal aligns perfectly with our mission here at @rockurainemedrelief.

The FFU Foundation is currently working on a number of urgent cases, all addressing critical needs for Ukrainians dealing with the consequences of Russian aggression.

One urgent case is supporting the Orphan Care Center in Lviv, Ukraine. As of June, 2022, the Center is taking care of 167 new orphans from this war, 43 of whom are infants under the age of 6 months. This video on FFU Foundation’s YouTube Channel says it all:

On June 1, 2022, International Day for the Protection of Children, the FFU Foundation organized actions in Berlin, London, Paris, and New York to draw attention to the Ukrainian children who have lost their parents during the war.

This video is in Ukrainian, but even if you don’t speak Ukrainian, the message is easily understandable:

The FFU Foundation is also involved in raising funds for medical care for individuals to help them recover from serious war injuries in Ukraine. For example, this story of Olya Yakovleva, who was severely injured when a Russian tank decided to shell her house:

Another important part of the FFU Foundation’s work is the supply of bone fixation systems to hospitals in Ukraine to surgically repair traumatic injuries to limbs during war.

Osteosynthesis device

The FFU Foundation provides osteosynthesis systems for the injured with bone fractures.

Sometimes a limb is lost entirely from these types of injuries, and a custom prosthetic limb is needed to allow the patient to return to as full a function as possible. We are looking forward to working together with the FFU Foundation as well as members of the Brother’s Brother Foundation Ukraine Neurology Fund, and local partners RocMaidan and the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester to support rehabilitation care for Ukrainians of all ages with war injuries. We look forward to building our network of supporters to include not only pediatricians and neurologists, but also orthopedists and rehabilitation specialists as we expand this effort.

An additional advantage of partnering with the FFU Foundation is it allows us to access their extensive logistics connections in Poland and Ukraine. For example, our current outgoing prescription medication shipment to Ukraine will be handled and distributed by our new friends at the FFU Foundation – more details to come! Also, we will be able purchase medications and hospital supplies through FFU Foundation in Poland and Ukraine, saving on the cost for items and shipping overall. This will all make every dollar of our donors’ money go further!

We are very excited about this partnership and how it will allow us to expand the reach and effectiveness of the help our donors provide!

We are still accepting donations!

We are collecting monetary donations to support the purchase of medical supplies and non-controlled substance medications now for Ukrainian hospitals. Go to our fundraising page to contribute.

We are a non-profit organized under the Rochester Regional Health Foundations.
