Forever in Our Memory

Dr. Leontieva.

Dr. Oksana Leontieva, вічна памʼять.

On October 10, 2022 Dr. Oksana Leontieva, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist at the Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv was one of those killed in yesterday’s russian missile attacks. News reports state that she was killed while driving to work after having dropped off her 5 year old son at kindergarten.

So many in Ukraine have lost their lives, and the loss of yet another colleague caring for sick children is very hard.

The Ohmatdyt children’s hospital is the largest pediatric hospital in Ukraine. Founded in 1894, according to its website the hospital performs more than 10,000 surgeries a year, has 720 beds, and treats more than 20,000 children every year. This hospital has been featured in numerous news stories, including in Time magazine. Its doctors, nurses, and staff continue to bravely and selflessly care for sick and injured children throughout this war.

The russian ministry of defense announced after its missile attacks on Ukrainian cities yesterday where numerous civilians like Dr. Leontieva were killed: “The purpose of the strike has been achieved. All designated facilities have been hit.”

When will the world recognize that russia has long ago completed its application to be named a state sponsor of terrorism?
